A room of business leaders will spend a full day working through one topic: trust. Not trust as a value written on a wall, but trust as it actually behaves inside a business, in the gap between what people say and what they are actually willing to say.

Why the trust gap matters

Most of what goes wrong in a team starts with something nobody felt able to say.

Trust isn’t a soft extra. It quietly decides how a business actually runs day to day. When it’s there, people tell you what’s really going on. When it isn’t, you find out later, usually when it costs more.

Trust affects:

  • Whether people speak honestly
  • Whether problems are raised early, while they are still small
  • Whether leaders receive accurate information, not the edited version
  • Whether people take responsibility
  • Whether decisions are challenged constructively
  • Whether teams feel safe enough to admit uncertainty or mistakes
What makes the day different

This is not a conference, a lecture or a training course.

There are no exhibitors, no sales pitches and no long presentations. It is a small, facilitated room of leaders exploring what trust actually looks like inside organisations, what causes it to disappear, and what leaders can practically do about it.

The first event in a new university Leadership Series.

The Trust Gap in Glasgow is the first event in a developing model that brings the Leadership Series onto university campuses.

Day 1 brings regional business leaders onto campus for this full-day conversation.

Day 2, on Wednesday 14 October, takes the same leadership challenge into a practical workshop with MSc, PhD and final-year students.

The student workshop is a separate session arranged with the university. Students don’t book through this page.
